Dog has sore spots on belly after boarding. What should I do now?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 45 lbs

Just picked my dog up from boarding & have found some sore pots on his belly by his back legs & genital area. What can I do?

Hi and thank you for using PetCoach. I would give Harvey a bath and make sure that he does not itch or lick the area. He may need an Elizabethan collar for this. Sometimes benadryl may help dogs if they are itching.This will keep him comfortable in the meantime until you can get him into your vet. Your vet will performa full physical exam and determine if Harvey needs antibiotics (for a skin infection) or any medicated shampoo.

    It looks like she has a skin infection or an allergic dermatitis. You could bathe her with an anti-bacterial medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, have her examined by your vet. She may need an oral antibiotic, anti-histamine, and/or a corticosteroid to treat.
