My dog is snoring, coughing, and congested. Could it be a cold or allergies?

Dogs do get allergies, however they tend to express them more as dermatology issues than respiratory issues. If your dog continues to have these issues I would consider seeing your local veterinarian. It could be a change in environment (altitude, etc) that is affecting you pet, or it could be something more serious.

So the dog flu comes in two varieties. The first strain is not usually serious and can cause some nasal congestion, coughing and sneezing. Many dogs clear it on their own within a week or two. The second strain of flu (the one in the news lately) is more serious. However, dogs with this strain are usually much sicker (lethargy, fever, not wantin to eat, severe cough). The other options are kennel cough (a “doggy cold”) or allergies. Make sure Baxley is eating well and continues to have a good attitude. If he shows any of the signs I mentioned earlier, take him into the vet. In the mean time, you can run a humidifier near where he sleeps or put him in the bathroom with you while you run a hot shower. The steam can be very helpful in loosening the mucous. Poor Shorty! He may be congested. Try bringing him into the bathroom with you when you take a shower or putting him in a room with a humidifier. The steam from these may help with his congestion. Make sure he is eating, gently warming canned food if his appetite has gone down. I hope this helps!

Poor Julian! Dogs can get respiratory illnesses and allergies, both of which can cause sneezing, coughing, and discharge like you've seen. In the case of infections, the discharge may become cloudy or yellow/green, whereas allergies tend to stay clear. In either case, since this has been ongoing a few days, it's a good idea to bring Julian into your vet. They can provide allergy medications or other treatments as needed depending on the cause. If you notice him worsening, the discharge changing color, fever, or changes in behavior or appetite, that's a sign that he needs to be seen sooner. Until then, keeping his eyes and nose clear with a clean washcloth can help keep him comfortable and prevent any debris from getting stuck and crusting his nostrils or eyes shut. Keeping him eating and drinking and in an area free of dust and dander can also help.

Based on your description it is likely mild allergies causing some nasal drainage. Over time allergies can also cause rhinitis in pets, which presents as snorting (stertor) sounds. If things don’t improve to seem to be bothering Remus your vet can prescribe some antihistamines to try or even some allergy medications. Secondary bacterial infections can also develop which typically cause decreased appetite, a low grade fever sometimes and yellow or geeen drainage from the nose. If you see those symptoms then it’s best to get him treated soon with a short course of antibiotics. Otherwise you may be able to wait things out to see if his allergies clear up. Allergies can be possible. If Pedtro is sounding congested or has a lot of discharge, or has other issues such as fever, appetite changes, trouble breathing etc, I would be concerned there is another respiratory infection ongoing. If the problem persists or you see other symptoms, seeking out veterinary care in person to have it treated is best.

I'm so sorry to hear Koda is not feeling well. Being congested and sneezing could indicate he has an upper respiratory infection. Some of these dogs can cough/gag up a foamy white material as well. He could also be suffering from allergies. He will need to see his veterinarian if his symptoms persist, especially if his appetite decreases.
