What causes a small dry scabby bump on my dog's snout?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 45 lbs

Black lab with a dry scabby round bump on the top of his snout. It's probably a little smaller round than a dime. It almost looks like a piece of dog food sitting there. It doesn't seem to be bothering him

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration).
Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors.

My dog has a bump on their nose. Is it a serious health concern?

It looks like this lump could simply be a benign tumor, but that's impossible to say without seeing the dog in person. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I'd give your dog's vet a call to set up an appointment for sometime this week. I hope this helps!

What's this red, scabby, pus-filled bump on my dog's nose or lip?

From the picture it actually looks more like a deep skin infection to me. This could be bacterial or fungal, or even a hypersensitivity reaction (less likely). I would recommend that she be examined by your veterinarian soon. They may look at a sample under the microscope to help determine what therapies might be most helpful. My dog has a strange growth on her nose. Should I take her to the vet?

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal infection). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any). My dog has a nose rash and a mysterious bump. What could it be?

It is hard to tell from the photo the characteristics of this bump. I would say it is possible it is related to trauma and I would monitor for now but it could also be a tumor (either benign or malignant). My recommendation would be to monitor it for the next 24 to 48 hours, and if it is still there in the same size or it is bigger I would have a veterinarian examin the area. Further testing might need to be considered such as taking a sample of the mass and sending it out for interpretation at the laboratory. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
