Hi, my dog who is turning 3 in 2 weeks has suddenly stopped eating his morning meal. He usually takes a few bites and then leaves the rest. We usually feed him twice a day about 1 cup each time. Should I stop the morning feedings and just feed him once a day?

Twice a day feedings are best for several reasons. Dogs thrive on routine and it is easier to spot potential if they skip a meal or don't come running at meal time. It is easier to change diets since a dog will expect food, regardless of type, at the appointed time. A dog's stomach will send "hunger signals" after about 10 hours of being empty. This will stimulate the hunger response.
