Why is my dog shivering and her stomach making gurgling sounds?

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Panda evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bobo! He is so cute in his bed! It sounds like Bobo is experiencing periodic stomach pains. The noises you hear is likely gas moving through his intestines. Gas can be painful. When dogs are in pain they shake, don't want to move and whimper. Possible causes are: viral or bacterial infection, reaction to a new food/treat/table food, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney or liver problems, food allergy or intolerance or cancer. Since Bobo is older I do recommend having him seen Monday when your Vet opens for blood work and belly X-rays. In the mean time I would start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day as small frequent meals. I wish you and Bobo the best!

Her breed and what you describe are very typical of this. But other things such as infection or orgsn disease are possible. I think regardless of cause, Sophia needs to see the doctor for a good physical exam and some prescription pain medication if appropriate. Best of luck to you and Sophia.

The signs that you are seeing may be due to a variety of factors, including nausea/GI upset, pain, an infection (such as uterine), or another underlying medical issue. I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for her symptoms, have any necessary testing done (xrays, bloodwork), and get started on any treatment she may need. Dogs can sometimes get growly when they do not feel well. The question is why does she not feel well and what is making her vomit. There are numerous reasons for vomiting including ingestion of a foreign body, pancreatitis, viral or bacterial infections, liver or kidney disease, and more. I recommend a trip to your veterinarian where they can perform radiographs (x-rays) of the abdomen to check for signs of obstruction, and lab tests to rule out other causes of nausea. Yes, please take her in right away. This sounds like she is in a lot of pain. Dogs pant a lot and tremble when they are in pain. Since she’s not spayed she could have a uterine infection that can become life threatening, or many small dogs get intervertebral disc disease which can cause the symptoms you are seeing. They will need to do an exam and possibly lab tests or X-rays to get a diagnosis, then they can give pain medication and the appropriate treatment. Is your dog acting sick or nauseated in any way? Like refusing to eat, drooling excessively or trying to eat grass? If not, then I would not be too concerned.
