Why does my dog shake, lose balance, and not eat or drink monthly?

Hi. This is definitely not normal. I would be concerned she has episodes of low glucose, a neurologic condition she may have been born with, or another possibility is an infection that is affecting her neurologic system. I recommend she get a full blood panel, try another food to entice her to eat more, and have a full neurologic exam done by your veterinarian or a neurologic specialist. Having none of her shots does put infection high on the list.

Poor girl. These symptoms are highly suggestive of a toxin or drug intoxication. If this has been going on for more than 15-20 minutes duration, then I would highly recommend taking Bella Rose in to your local vet for a proper exam, diagnostic testing to hopefully pinpoint the problem, and treatment to help stabilize her condition. IF she did ingest a toxin, then the vet wil lhave to detox her quickly to help prevent any permanent damage on her organ systems, and also to prevent further absorption of the toxin in her gut. Another possible cause for these symptoms is a pyometra (spontaneous uterine infection). This can happen at any time in non-spayed female dogs and leads to septicemia which can cuase similar symptoms invvolved in a toxin ingestion. I'm so sorry that George is having this problem. I certainly understand how scary it can be when your dog is not feeling well and you don't know what is going on. Unfortunately, the signs you are describing could be caused by a large number of things, so it's impossible for me to tell you what is going on without George having an examination. George certainly could be having a problem with his vestibular apparatus which controls his balance. Vestibular disease can cause nausea, so dogs will need medication to resolve the nausea if that is the case. The symptoms you describe can be caused by a neurological condition such as a stroke, spinal cord inflammation, or a mass. It can also be due to back/neck issues or an ear infection. Certain toxins or viruses can also be to blame. It is important for Mia to be seen by a vet to determine the underlying cause and begin the appropriate treatment. There are services in many cities that provide home visits from vets, who can perform a neurological exam on Mia. In the meantime, Mia should be kept quiet and calm in case she is in pain. Poor Lucy! This could be a few different things. The most common things would be geriatric vestibular disease, an inner ear infection, a cerebral vascular accident (stroke), or a brain tumor. A lot of times it is geriatric vestibular disease which is a disorder they get when they get older that causes imbalance, but it improves with time. Unfortunately, they usually need supportive care to prevent dehydration. If she were mine, I would take her to your vet for an exam. Your vet may want to run some blood work to ensure her organs look okay and there is no toxins involved. Your vet will likely recommend supportive care and possibly antibiotics or steroids to cover all the possible problems. They may want to keep her there to watch her closely. Unfortunately with out some testing I cannot tell you exactly what caused her episodes. It is possible she could have low blood sugar, a liver shunt, congenital disease (born with an issue), seizures, or infectious disease. I would recommend taking her to a vet due to severity of clinical signs and multiple incidents. The vet will need to do some blood work and exam to help narrow down what is causing Sarah her issues.

This could be anything from symptoms of poisoning to an ear infection or vestibular disease to a tumor or neurological condition.
