Dog scraped paw, lost fur, no blood. Should I worry or let it heal?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You are doing just fine. It looks like she just scraped her pad and the skin above it. It may take up to 3/4 weeks to completely heal. The damaged pad takes the longest to regrow. The skin is not a problem. I would only bandage it a few days and after that keep it unwrapped as long as she isn't licking it. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

I would just make sure to keep the area clean while it heals. It should not require any antibiotics or topical creams. If the paw pad begins to swell or there is drainage at the area of the injury, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Royce so that the most appropriate treatment can be administered. Hi, if the wound is superficial apart from cleaning it and keeping it clean there is not much that needs to be done. According to the photos it looks like a mild abrasion in the central pad that is healing. For now I would just monitor unless signs of infection (redness, pus, foul smell, pain) or if any lameness present then I would suggest to contact your vet.

Yes, the skin on the paw pads grows quickly, so any minor tears or scrapes should heal in without complication, as long as they are not too deep! If the scrapes are deep enough to result in bleeding, Matilda should be seen by a veterinarian. Otherwise, they should heal on their own. I hope this is helpful!

There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign.
