Often small behavioral changes and alterations in appetite are the first symptoms that dogs and cats show us when they are ill. This is especially true in older animals such as Fluffy. Depending on how long it has been going on, I would strongly encourage you to schedule a visit with the vet for Fluffy to get an exam and most likely some blood work. They will want to rule out some common illnesses affecting older dogs so that they can be treated accordingly if needed. This does not sound like an emergency so definitely not need to run out now.

Hi there,
Abnormal behavior and loss of appetite combined is reason to seek emergency veterinary care. These could be signs of serious illness. I would recommend taking Maggie in for a physical exam as soon as possible.
I will hope for the best outcome for Maggie. Best of luck to you.
