Why does my dog rub his face on my head and neck when I lie down?

There are many reason why our pets rub themselves along the furniture. You might think of this as a sign of affection. Your dog may be pressing his scent or marking his territory. This is usually a comforting type of behavior for our pets. You might consider adding an addition 30 minute walk into your pets daily exercise plan. This may help to relax your pet some. To rule out any medical cause, you'll want to visit your local Vet and have him/her examine your pet for any signs of irritation or infection. These may include redness of the gums or any inflammation in the ears. If your pet is experiencing any of these signs your doctor may request a dental cleaning and ear cleaning along with medications to treat the underlying cause of infection. Both are very important.

Bleu maybe rubbing his face on his treats due to excitement, to mark his scent on the food, in the wild dogs do this to tell others in their pack where the food is, it could be a form of resource guarding or simply because he just is so happy and loves treats! Hi, it is difficult to tell for sure but normally when they are rubbing they release some pheromones and this is could be encouraged if you have any unfamiliar smells that perhaps you can't detect. For example if you have have been around other pets or people. One of my cats got crazy after I had my newborn, she would rub non stop and she also marked my leg when I was holding him ! I am not 100% sure why she would want to stay close to your head, perhaps a sense of security ? Are there any chances that Luna could be pregnant ?

It's difficult to say 100% from the picture, but I don't see signs of infection or hair loss from this photo. If he's only rubbing on you it may just be his way of trying to get attention. If Bruno is rubbing his muzzle on furniture, carpet, scratching with his paws then he may have an allergy or irritation that needs to be addressed. It could be a way of Tally showing you affection. She feels very bonded to you, and she always wants to be touching you in some way. Dogs greet each other by sniffing each other's behinds, so it could be her way of putting her scent on you. Dogs show love to humans in their own way, and Tally more than likely wants to always touch you in some way, even with her butt :-)

Cats rub their heads on things as a way to mark with their scent or even pick up scents from things that they like. Your cat may just be showing affection or may enjoy shampoo or soap that you use in the shower and maybe picking up that sent by head bunting. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Bruce doesn't do this with any other chew toy or bone then I would throw it away. If he rubs his face after licking or chewing on it, he may be wiping the drool off his lips and face. That isn't abnormal. Rubbing his face from just sniffing it isn't normal unless you think he is trying to bury it. I wish you the best!
