What causes a round, raised pink bump on my dog's leg and what to do?

Good Morning, Sorry to see Baby Boo is having problems. This growth looks like it could be a small growth or tumor, especially since it appears raised and ulcerated and is not going away. Normally, your local veterinarian will examine the lesion and perform tests to see if it is in fact cancer, then recommend removal and laboratory tests to confirm what type of growth. In some cases, your veterinarian will simple recommend removal or an excision biopsy to send off for a histopathology report. In all cases, the sooner the growth is examined and removed the better chance of complete removal and complete recovery without it coming back. From my initial view of the picture, it looks like you need to get an appointment and have it check soon, but looks like everything will go great based on the location and age of your dog. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It could be a wound from trauma, tick/insect bite, or a histiocytoma. Histiocytoma’s are benign growths on young dogs that are pink raised button like masses that can ulcerate. They tend to form more often on the limbs. They also tend to go away on their own in a few months. You can clean it and apply an antibiotic cream and prevent licking up see if it resolves. It it persists or grows I’d have your vet look at it. It does appear that he has developed a growth on his back leg, and I do recommend all abnormal growths be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine if they are benign (non-cancerous) or not. While it could be a cyst, insect bite, or wart, there are certain types of skin cancer (such as mast cell tumors) that can look similar to what you are seeing. I would recommend Marvin see his regular veterinarian and have a needle aspirate to help determine what the growth might be, and determine any further treatment that may be needed. Good luck!

This is likely to resolve on its own as long as you prevent any further self-trauma (preventing her from licking at it for example). You can get an e-collar from your local pet store or simply just keep a very close eye on her to prevent further self-trauma. In most cases of mild infections, if this is done at home, they can resolve as long as you keep that area clean. If no improvement of worsening is noted in the next 3-4 days, then have her examined by your veterinarian. However, there is a good chance she can do well at home. She is adorable! Unfortunately, it's not possible to tell exactly what this is by looking at it. This could be either a cyst or tumor. It's more likely to be a tumor, because it's not common for skin cysts to be hairless like this. However, it has features of a benign tumor like histiocytoma. It's best to have Snoopy checked-out by a vet in order to get this adequately diagnosed. The vet will be able to take a sample and identify the cause of it. It's not an emergency, but good to have a vet see it within the next week or so. I hope that helps and all is well with Snoopy.

Based on your description it could be a sebaceous adenoma which can have a brown dot in the center because they produce a waxy brown discharge. They are benign and some dog breeds grow a lot of them over time. Sadly many skin bumps can look the same. I always recommend when a new lump is found or an established one grows or changes to have it checked by your Vet. If it is small enough and Neeko is a calm dog some vets can remove skin masses with local anesthesia. I hope this helps and I wish Neeko the very best!

Histiocytomas are pink hairless, button like growths commonly found on the limbs of young dogs. They spontaneously regress on their own in 2-3 months. They tend to ulcerate before they regress. If the growth increases in size rapidly or Odie keeps traumatizing it or it doesn't resolve in a reasonable time frame consider surgical removal and biopsy. I hope this helps and I wish Odie the best!
