Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered
I have a dog who is overly excited about new cats. I can tell he means no harm, he just wants to play. But he doesn't seem to realize how big he is in comparison and gets a little rough with my new kitten. I can't have them together because the kitten is terrified because the dog gets way too excited. What is the best way to introduce the dog and kitten safely? My dog gets along well with my other full grown cat but it took awhile for our dog to calm down around her.

Not all dogs will play safely with cats, and I would recommend keeping them separated until the kitten is almost full grown and has claws and teeth to better protect itself. Even playing, a rowdy dog can easily hurt or kill a small kitten.
