Both my puppy and older dog are reverse sneezing. Is it contagious?

Sneezing that is apparently contagious is likely caused by some sort of upper respiratory or lower respiratory infection. Sometimes these ailments require antibiotics to resolve. I would consider bringing both of them into the veterinarian to have them looked over and treated if necessary. These sort of infections have a knack for getting worse if they go untreated, so I would recommend having this done sooner than later. Hope this helps!

While she could be experiencing allergies as they are common this time of year, a respiratory tract infection is also possible. Given how frequently her symptoms are occurring, I worry that she does have an infection. If so, she may need an antibiotic. In the meantime, you can place her the bathroom while you shower. Hello. I would take this as a day by day. Pixie may have a little cold, but if she is acting & eating well, it may just need to run its course. I would definitely keep your appointment on Friday, but if she does still have a cold, your vet may put off any vaccinations for a few days longer. What your 6 month old dog has could be contagious and could be very very dangerous to the puppies, keep them separate and make sure you are washing your hands and clothes between petting and interacting with the older dog and the puppies. If the puppies are breathing well and the discharge is clear they are likely ok, but if they start breathing heavy, are weak, not eating, or losing weight (weigh the puppies daily) then I would get them to a vet right away. Also, it sounds like your 6 month old is very very sick and needs to be seen by a vet right away. Best of luck with all your doggies!

Bruce's reverse sneezing may be in response to many things including poor air quality (which is common in houses during the winter time), a mild infection, a tumor/polyp (less common) and yes, some times as pets age, these things can become more prevalent. If it continues or worsens, have him seen by his veterinarian who may prescribe an anti-inflammatory or even an antibiotic. At home you can continue your current care. Adding in an Omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs (you can find these online, at pet stores or at your vet's office) can also help the condition. Using an HEPA air filter may also be beneficial.
