My dog is restless and noisy in his crate at night. What can I do?

This can be hard to do. If she is really gassy this could be causing the restlessness. Belle may be having some anxiety. I recommend trying Composure chews and an Adaptil diffuser. Hi there. I would recommend giving Brady a special treat whenever you put him in his crate, such as a Kong toy stuffed with peanut butter. This will help to keep him busy so he doesn't bark, and will also teach him to associate good things with being in his crate. You should only leave him in the crate for short periods right now, and let him out before he finishes his treat so that he doesn't have a chance to get anxious or upset. As he gets more comfortable with the crate, you can gradually increase the amount of time he spends there. You could certainly try a Thundershirt if you want to - it seems to be helpful for some anxious dogs. Other things that might be helpful would include an Adaptil pheromone collar, or a natural calming supplement such as Zylkene or Composure.

Scout is very young still and this is likely just a phase he will go through and likely will not continue long term. Some things you can do to help prevent this would be to feed earlier in the night so that when he goes out to the yard, he urinates and defecates and does not wake you up to let him outside. This is a very common issue in these breeds mostly because they are highly energetic dogs that require a good amount of exercise. I had a similar issue when I adopted my dog as he is VERY energetic. The best solution for this issue is exercising him daily for a good amount of time. For example, you could consider taking him to the dog park daily. Alternatively, you could consider taking him for a run or even just playing fetch with him. Activity is likely going to help Goku be more quiet at home. Another important thing is positive reinforcement which basically means rewarding him with treats anytime you notice a desired behavior such as being nice and quiet at home. Persistence and consistency are key when it comes to behavior modification in dogs. Good luck!
