My dog has red spots on his back. Is it a reaction? What to use?

Those spots on Lucky could be related to a contact allergy but several things including allergies, skin mites, flea bites, ringworm (which humans can get) or a bacterial infection will look the same. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesions with soap once a day (regular soap) and rinse well (don't wash his whole body, just those spots). Protect the areas from licking or scratching. If they don't start looking better within about a week or if they get worse, have him examined by the veterinarian who may prescribe medications. However, it also looks to me that it could be a result of a bacterial infection, mite infection or even a flea allergy. The best thing to do would be to take JR to a veterinarian so that they can do a skin scrape and cytology to see what it going on. That way JR can be prescribed antibiotics or other medication if necessary.

Skin red spots are commonly due to secondary bacterial infection (fulliculitis). A check up, appropriate disinfection and eventually antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid licking (if any). These spots are usually due to a bacterial skin infection. the round red spots, hesitating in circular darker areas are commonly called epidermal collarettes. A mild antiseptic shampoo for dogs based on 4% chlorhexidine digluconate can be used with good results in these cases. This can be used twice weekly until complete resolution is seen.

Bo's lesion looks most suspicious for a bacterial skin infection, but could also be due to ringworm, mange, or bruising. Since it does not seem to be bothering him, you can monitor the lesion for the time being to see if it changes colors, grows, becomes itchy, or spreads elsewhere.
