My dog has a red sore on mouth roof near throat. What should I do?

This sore could just be from an injury. I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep him from scratching at it, you can put an Ecollar on him. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I'd also have him seen by a vet if the sore doesn't appear to be healing over the next week. I will put a link below on how to make an Ecollar at home. it is possible that this is what occurred. At this time i would recommend to monitor the sore. As long as it does not seem to be worsening and he is still happy and not showing any signs of pain the sore should heal over the next few days. however, if by chance it is not gutting better on its own, veterinary attention ay be needed

It looks like Decoy most likely has developed an ulcer. The type of ulcer he has is something more commonly seen in cats, but can be seen in dogs on occasion. The typical treatment for it is steroids and antibiotics, which will have to be acquired through a veterinarian. While at the vet, they will also be able to examine it to make sure it is not a growth or mass of some sort. This would be extremely unusual in such a young dog so I wouldn't worry too much about it. The ulcers can be somewhat resistant and take a while to get rid of, but in the end they are usually something perfectly treatable.

Hello. It would be a good idea to have an exam done by your vet to take a look at that area. That appears to be a growth or tumor and not just a sore. There is nothing you can do yourself to make that get getter. There are many types of skin growths, some are benign and some are cancerous. Your veterinarian can guide you in deciding if surgery to remove that growth is recommended.

Poor guy! Your can try this: It won’t hurt him if he licks it off. However, if it’s not improving in 5 days or so, I would recommend that you schedule a recheck with your vet. Based on Bear's relatively young age and the photo that you have provided I would be suspicious that Bear is experiencing a mild bacterial or viral infection in this area. Puppies are often more susceptible to viruses such as the papilloma virus more than adult dogs, this virus typically forms cauliflower like growths in/around the mouth, but certain forms can be more mild and not lead to these signs. It is possible that Bear has a bacterial infection, these are usually fairly benign and self limiting. Another possibility is that Bear is experiencing sensitivity or an allergy to something in his environment leading to this lesion. Some dogs are very sensitive to certain types of food bowls or toys, and can develop these lesion secondary to this. I would recommend having Bear evaluated by your veterinarian so that they can examine the lesion and Bear's mouth. They can discuss the need for additional diagnostics such as an impression smear or gentle sampling of the area. Hello, sorry to hear about Bunker. That could be associated with another papilloma although they generally occur on the inner part of the mouth. It could be a local inflammation of the hair follicles either sterile or infectious (bacteria). I would recommend continuing to monitor that area for any worsening swelling, redness, pain, bleeding or any other discharge.
