Why does my dog have red/purple bumps on her legs after spay?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 85 lbs

Hi! My German Shepard is 2 years old and about a month ago was neutuered. She now has little bumps, some red and some a purpley color on two of her four legs. She isn’t acting any differently and she drinks and eats plenty. She doesn’t scratch or lick them. They just appeared.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. What you are describing may be what we call papules or could be hemangiomas. Papules typically show up secondary to allergies or skin infections and hemagniomas are almost like blood blisters but can turn into cancerous skin tumors if not removed. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine these bumps so that you can get closer to an answer in regards to what these may be and what the most appropriate diagnostic / treatment recommendations would be. Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is likely a focal area of dermatitis. This is likely to resolve on its own as long as you prevent any further self-trauma (preventing her from licking at it for example). You can get an e-collar from your local pet store or simply just keep a very close eye on her to prevent further self-trauma. In most cases of mild infections, if this is done at home, they can resolve as long as you keep that area clean. If no improvement of worsening is noted in the next 3-4 days, then have her examined by your veterinarian. However, there is a good chance she can do well at home. She is adorable! My dog has a red purplish bump on her belly. What could it be?

Hello. I think that Hershey just had a hair follicle get infected, very similar as to what can happen with a bad acne spot. You can just clean this daily with a skin antiseptic like Hibiclens ( available at all pharmacies ) & dab a little triple antibiotic on the area. It should heal up just fine. What's this pink, itchy bump on my dog's leg? Should I worry?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It could be a wound from trauma, tick/insect bite, or a histiocytoma. Histiocytoma’s are benign growths on young dogs that are pink raised button like masses that can ulcerate. They tend to form more often on the limbs. They also tend to go away on their own in a few months. You can clean it and apply an antibiotic cream and prevent licking up see if it resolves. It it persists or grows I’d have your vet look at it. What's this bleeding bump on my dog's back leg? What should I do?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Bobo. This bump could be a cyst that has now ruptured, or it would be a benign or malignant growth. It may be bleeding because he's been picking at it. Apply gentle pressure to stop the bleeding, then put a bandage on it to protect it. My dog has purple growths on leg, one burst with a hole. What is it?

These look like deep bacterial infection similar to cyst. However skin tumors such as a hemangioma are also possible. I recommend you keep these areas clean and dry and prevent Savannah from licking at them. Your veterinarian should do an exam on the sites because if they are cancer they may need to be removed before they become any bigger.
