My dog has recurring round spots on belly/legs. Is it ringworm?

It could be ringworm but it could also be some other fungal or bacterial infection, you need to take him to the vet in order to have it checked and diagnose, if it is ringworm he will need an anti fungal treatment for 3 weeks.

Hello there. Thank you for using PetCoach and thank you for including photos. My best guess is that this is ringworm. It does not look like a bite. I suggest you get Molekin' to your vet for an exam and to get a proper diagnosis for two reasons. Number one, ringworm is contagious to people and number two, an adult dog that gets ringworm usually has an underlying problem with their immune system. An adult dog should not get it. This is much more common in puppies. Remember, it is impossible for me to diagnose over the internet with just a photo. I am just giving my best guess. Many skin diseases look similar to the naked eye so that is why testing is important. It may take 2+ months for it to clear completely up but you should start noticing a difference in a .couple weeks. If you don't have any improvement in 2 weeks or it worsens then you definitely need to get him to the vet. Hi, thanks for using Petcoach! Poor Maggie! I think the 2 most possible causes are ring worm (though I agree not classic in appearance) or a skin infection. You can start bathing Maggie in a medicated shampoo. Bathe 2-3 times per week and leave the later on for 10 mins before rinsing. You can do that until your appointment next week. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to ringworm. This could also be just a focal skin bacterial infection, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Katana evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Ringworm can be transmitted to humans so just in case this is what is going with Katana, wear gloves when handling this lesion. Good luck and best wishes!

It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed.  There are medications such as Apoquel or prednisone which may help with the itch. 

There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. 

Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). 

If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. 

Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

Ringworm is a fungal infection and an anti-bacterial spray will not cure ringworm. If it is a bacterial infection then a fungicidal spray will not work. So it is important to have the correct diagnosis in order to successfully treat the lesions. Therefore you should take Cowboy to a veterinarian for an exam and proper treatment.

It could be an insect or tick bite, it could also be ringworm, if this does not get any better within a week you will need to take her to your vet in order to get it checked and treated. try to avoid contact as ringworm is contagious to humans as well.
