Why does my spayed female dog's vulva appear recessed or abnormal?

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. What you are describing sounds as if the folds of skin around the vulva are red inside. This happens commonly when urine get a trapped in the skin folds and causes irritation. It is especially common in dogs with excessive skin over the vulva and can even predispose to urinary tract infections. I would recommend using malacetic conditioning spray, mal a ket wipes or preva wipes to keep the skin around the vulva clean. If this worsens or does not resolve, I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. This looks like a vaginal prolapse. That is when the vagina turns inside out. This is very swollen and needs to be lubricated and then manipulated back into place. You can clean it gently with a warm wet cloth, then apply KY Jelly to it or Vaseline to protect the sensitive skin from injury, then I'd bring her in tomorrow morning to get this examined and treated. Based on the photos you provided, it appears as though Kahlua may have a skin infection with the red bumps on the abdomen and near her vulva. I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment can be recommended. She will likely need an oral antibiotic as well as topical therapy to treat this. Hi and thanks for posting. The pictures came out very blurry so I cannot see what you are referring to. Spots around the vulva could be any number of things- from a bacterial infection, comedones (blackheads), yeast infection, or other causes. Good that you have an appointment with your veterinarian tomorrow so Silva can get checked out.

Based on the photo and the symptoms you are describing I would suspect that this redness is secondary to some mild irritation or a very mild bacterial infection. If she is otherwise acting ok I would recommend continuing to monitor this area. If at any point Goldie begins licking or you notice a colored/odorous discharge I would recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian so that they can evaluate this area and perform other diagnostics such as an impression smear or culture of the area.
