Is raw chicken feet or freeze-dried food safe for my dog to eat?

There is a very high risk of Salmonella poisoning to both your dog and you by feeding raw food. This is especially problematic if anyone in the home is immunocompromised such as very young children, elderly or anyone with a disease that weakens the immune system. Furthermore, raw diets will not be nutritionally balanced for Tank. This can lead to serious consequences with longterm feeding. Finally, bones of any form can lead to intestinal obstruction or perforations. I hope this information helps!

Hi there and thank you for posting this question. Raw chicken can cause intestinal salmonella and campylobacter infections in dogs just like it can in humans. There is also a human health risk as the people in the household could be exposed my licking or fecal matter. If you want to feed chicken I would encourage you to cook it first. You are so welcome! No, it does not make it safe. Nothing makes a raw diet safe except for cooking the meat lol. Raw food can be freeze dried, so read the labels. That will tell you if the food is raw. Same for dehydrated. Dehydration is taking the water out, not cooking the meat.

This e part of the chicken are not easily digested and not very nutrient as well. Occasional gastrointestinal signs due to inflammation can be observed. I would recommend not to give them chicken feet.

It's lovely of you to want to help this street dog! No, I would not feed him raw chicken claws. Raw meat can cause poisoning from E.coli and salmonella, and the claws could cause damage to the GI tract and/or cause an obstruction. I would offer him dog food every time you see him. You might see if you can catch him or have an animal charity come and catch him so he can get veterinary attention and find a permanent home.

However, it is well known the possible risks of eating raw meat just like it is possible health risk to a human for the same exact reasons like the development of an infection from ingesting raw protein. Also, it does not offer any benefit over cooked food. I personally do not recommend raw diets. Good luck!

Chicken feet are an excellent source of collagen and glucosamine. They also make great toothbrushes for your dog. As a supplement, feet are a great choice but as the main meal, they would not provide sufficient protein to maintain health and weight.
