Is raw chicken feet or freeze-dried food safe for my dog to eat?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 15 lbs

Is it safe to give my raw chicken feet. Can dog get sick from bacteria. Also I feed my dog Stella and chew and Merrick freeze dried food. Is freeze dried food safe for dog, and does it have all the nutrients my dog need. Thanks

Hello, thank you for your question about Sky.

There are many different opinions on feeding raw food diets, so you may hear different opinions depending on who you ask. I would not recommend feeding your dog raw chicken feet.

In general feeding raw or even freeze dried food can lead to bacterial infections such as Salmonella. This can be transmitted to humans also. There is no advantage to feeding freeze-dried/raw food over commercial dog food.

Hope this helps!
