Is rabies vaccination required for my puppy to start training?

I am attaching a link to the American Animal Hospital Association's vaccine guidelines below. https://www.aaha.org/guidelines/canine_vaccination_guidelines/practice_vaccination.aspx Puppies should receive DAPP vaccination every 2-4 weeks until they are at least 16 weeks of age. If Beaux only had a vaccination at 6 weeks of age, he will likely need 2 more DAPP vaccinations 2-4 weeks apart. He will also need a Rabies vaccination and may need a Bordatella vaccination for a training class. I would recommend contacting your local training facility to find out what vaccinations they require (because some are now also requiring influenza vaccination depending on the location), then schedule an appointment with a veterinarian to determine the best vaccine schedule for Beaux to be fully protected from the vaccinations. If he only had a vaccination at 6 weeks of age, then he is NOT considered protected, so I would not recommend taking him to a training class without consulting with a veterinarian. Good luck! Yes, you can certainly socialize Marshall - it's important to start this process as early as possible. The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) actually recommends starting puppy kindergarten classes and other types of socialization as early as 7-8 weeks, before vaccinations are complete - you can read their position statement on this topic for more information if you like: https://avsab.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Puppy_Socialization_Position_Statement_Download_-_10-3-14.pdf It's fine for Marshall to go on walks, and to visit friends with healthy vaccinated adult dogs. You can also enroll him in a good puppy kindergarten class in your area. He will be fully protected from parvo and distemper about 7-10 days after his last booster vaccine, so after that he can go anywhere - until then, you can definitely get him out and about, just avoid areas where large numbers of strange dogs have been such as dog parks, etc. The rabies vaccine is intended to protect him from contracting rabies if he comes into contact with a wild animal, so isn't really relevant for taking him on walks, etc. - he should definitely get it when the time comes, but you can go right ahead and take him for walks, to classes, etc. in the meantime :)

No, Princess should not be dangerous to anyone if she bites or licks them - it's very normal for puppies to do this :) Rabies is extremely rare in pet dogs, and would be virtually unheard-of in a puppy this age - it can only be transmitted through the bite of an infected wild animal, so it's unlikely that she would have had any possibility of exposure at the age of two months. Dogs can get their rabies vaccine anytime after 12 weeks of age. So she isn't quite old enough yet, but your veterinarian can vaccinate her in another month or so. I do not recommend giving 5 in 1 vaccines on your own, because in my experience, vaccines purchased over the counter and given by owners are often not effective. It's much better to have your veterinarian give the vaccine, to make sure it's guaranteed to work.

If you don't have proof of vaccination, then I would just assume that Ruby is not vaccinated, and get her started right away. Since she is already 5 months old, she will likely only need 2 distemper/parvo vaccinations in addition to rabies to get her up date. A vet will be able to discuss other recommended vaccinations based on your lifestyle and location.

No, I would not worry. Typically the first rabies vaccine isn't given until the puppy is 12 weeks of age. I would take Grey back into the vet when he is 12 weeks old to get his first rabies vaccine (he will need a booster of it four weeks after the first). I hope this helps :-)

If at 5 months, this will be the first time he will be receiving vaccines, then I would recommend he receive his rabies vaccine and distemper-hepatitis-parvovirus vaccine as well as bordetella if he will be around other dogs or kenneled. He will need a booster of the distemper and bordetella in 3-4 weeks. At your first appointment with Sash's vet, you and the veterinarian can decide what other vaccines are recommended based on Sash's risk level and health status. I hope this helps!
