Why is my dog's skin purple, losing hair, and smelly after puppies?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 11 months old | 45 lbs

Female dog, 3 years old, had pups 10 weeks ago. Skin is deep purple, hair loss, especially undercoat and has a weird smell

It is normal for the hair coat to thin out and then appear bald in places after the puppies are weaned. The change in color and odor can be a sign of an infection though. You can try a medicated bath until you can get her to the vet to check for an infection
