My dog bred with two males. Will pups show traits from each father?

A bitch can have a litter with multiple fathers, if she was mated by more than one dog during her heat. So if Silky was mated by a Labrador and a stray dog, it is possible that some of the puppies will look like the stray dog. It just depends on how many eggs the stray dog's semen fertilized. Any that the Labrador's semen fertilized will only have the characteristics of the Labrador.

This is a great question! While it’s not possible for ONE puppy to have two fathers, it’s definitely possible for a litter to be the result of two separate breedings. Yes, this can affect Hazel having all GSD puppies. Because female dogs release multiple eggs when in heat, if they mate with multiple males, there is the possibly that the puppies will have different fathers. If another dog mated with Akira as well, there is certainly a chance that some or all of the puppies may be fathered by that dog rather than your male. There is no way to predict how many puppies (if any) will be mixed vs. how many will be purebred, since it's a matter of random chance when more than one male has mated with her. So I'm afraid you won't know until the puppies are born.

Thanks for the question. Interbreeding of a mother to an offspring does carry a high risk of genetic problems. It is possible that the pups will have problems, or that they will be born normal. Since she appears to be far along in her pregnancy, I wouldn't advise terminating the pregnancy at this point. I hope all goes well, and I recommend spaying/neutering, or keeping offspring separated once they are over 5 months of age to prevent future pregnancies.

Puppies will not grow bigger than the mom and dad. There is a possibility that you will get some puppies that will have a rough coat, and some that will have a smooth coat. Some will look more like a terrier and the others more like the mom. Colorwise they can be spotted like the mom, or wheaten like the dad, or both, wheaten with black spots. This should be very interesting!

Since the litter would receive half of its genes from the pit bull and half from your mixed breed, none of the puppies would be pit bulls. That said, the way genes are expressed can vary widely and it is possible that some of the puppies may strongly resemble pit bulls. It is equally possible that none of the puppies would resemble pit bulls. Genetics keep us on our toes and you never know exactly what will happen!
