I'm vegetarian. How can my dog get protein without me feeding meat?

For one, I wouldn't have Pavi as a vegetarian. Dogs should have meat, being a vegetarian is a human construct and really shouldn't be forced on a dog. I would feed her a high quality dog food like Royal Canin. You should also make sure she is fully vaccinated, has regular flea treatments, is spayed, and sees the vet as soon as she is sick. It's not the best choice for a dog as dogs are natural carnivores but if you do decide to feed him vegetarian food chose a good quality ready made diet (kibbles) such as Benevo or Yarrah for example.

Dogs and cats are actually lactose intolerant and ingesting milk isn't an appropriate diet for an almost adult lab. Bruno needs to eat a commercial adult dog food. Royal Canin makes a commercial vegetarian diet that I think is the best option since it is balanced. Otherwise you would need to have a veterinary nutritionist formulate a balanced diet, which can be difficult when you are eliminating meat. You should feed a good quality brandname puppy food for medium sized dogs. This will have enough protein to make appropriate muscle in your puppy. If you get too much muscle at his age his bones may not be strong enough for it. So it is better to let him grow slowly. Give him lots of exercise appropriate for his age. If you think he still does not have enough muscle at the age of 1 1/2 years you should take him to a vet for a general exam and assessment. If all is well then you can feed the adult version of the food you are feeding or go to a veterinary nutritionist and have a healthy ration calculated for what you want.
