Is there a chart for dog food protein biological value and digestibility?

I see what you mean now, thank you for clarifying. I apologize for not answering your question the first time. When you said rations, I would thinking of something else. Dehydrated meats are fine. Dehydrated protein sources are a more concentrated source of digestible protein, and many pet food companies dehydrate the meat. I personally like Royal Canin as a dog food. Its a very high quality dog food. Other brands I would recommend include Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps! :-)

I like to stick with the more common protein sources such as chicken unless the pet starts to have problems from a suspected food allergy to chicken. I don't think one is more digestible than the other but that would also depend on the quality of the food and how well Annabelle tolerates the particular food. I like to leave the lamb and other proteins out of the regular diet in case you need to do a food trial down the road. Then lamb, duck, rabbit, kangaroo, etc all become possibilities. I will say one more thing. The grain free pet foods are just a marketing ploy by the pet food manufacturers. Very few pets ever have problems with grain and these diets are usually more expensive. Allergies to food are due to the protein source and not the grains. A grain problem in pets is very very rare. Good luck and I hope this helps.

No problem! Happy to help! From what I could research, it appears Bewi's standards for food production are exceptional. All the protein products that come from animals are human grade- meaning they are also approved for human food which is impressive. A lot of dog foods out there do not meet this standard. They also have rigorous quality control testing which is another good mark!

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center! In the United States, Pet foods are regulated by a nongovernmental organization called AAFCO. They set standards for what makes a complete pet food. Due to these high standards, most pet foods for sale are adequate to provide complete nutrition for pet dogs. What you want is a food that has an AAFCO statement on the package that the food has been used in FEEDING TRIALS. You will find some food that have a statement that they are FORMULATED to meet requirements. Your family veterinarian may have specific preferences for food types. In general, food made by Hills, Purina, Eukanuba, and Royal Canin will have excellent nutrient profiles for your pet. If your dog has specific medical requirements, your family veterinarian can make recommendations for a prescription food.

I recommend the brand Royal Canin because it is high-quality and easy to absorb. Dogs who eat this diet typically produce good quality stool and low quantity stool which means that the diet does not have a lot of filler. Hello. Most dog food companies do a very good job balancing nutrients, and as long as your pet has a happy, healthy digestive system, this food should be fine for him. Most veterinarians encourage people to stick with the bigger well known companies, such as Hill's, Royal Canin & Purina, but I do not know of any issues with the Origen brand. So, do not worry about the protein levels in the food at this time. Concern yourself more with keeping Remy at a healthy weight as he continues to age.
