My dog is pregnant. Can I give her Duphaston to prevent miscarriage?

However, this should only be done in close cooperation with your veterinarian, and only if progesterone testing shows that supplementation is needed - giving it when it isn't necessary can cause birth defects in the puppies, and may also throw off the timing of whelping if you're unsure of her exact due date.

Little breed dogs are at a higher risk of low calcium. Low calcium IF it will be a problem, occurs after birth during the first few days with large litters nursing or in small breed dogs. I wouldn't start a calcium supplement until all the puppies are born. I hope this helps! Good luck!

That has not been reported to the best of my knowledge. Pyometra develops in response to certain hormonal stimulation that is not present during pregnancy. If Bugsy is showing symptoms like discharge from the vulva then I suggest you get her to your vet for an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sakura! If you think Sakura is in labor it is likely too late but she would need to be seen by a Vet right away. Sometimes progesterone and terbutaline can be used. Sadly if she is aborting or in labor too early then it usually indicates something is very wrong with the puppies, hormonally with Sakura or with her uterus (infection) and things are going to progress. I would suggest a specialty hospital or close Veterinary School where they may have reproduction specialists. I wish you all the best!

Unless this is a life-threatening reaction, I wouldn't advise using any drugs while she is pregnant. If she develops itching, trouble breathing, pale membranes, vomiting or other signs, I would advise contacting your veterinarian or a local emergency veterinarian for advice. Drug use during pregnancy should be avoided at all costs in my opinion. Maybe trying a hypoallergenic oatmeal shampoo and leaving the lather on her for 10 minutes may help ease the situation. I do not recommend raw or home cooked diets as they are deficient in the appropriate nutrients unless balanced by a nutritionist.
