My puppy has a pink spot on her lip. Is it depigmentation or normal?

Hello, Lioh's may be undergoing de-pigmentation changes in his nose either due to sun allergy if he is outdoors a lot or a form of vitiligo. If sun allergy, this can be very itchy and may spread to other parts of the body. Vitiligo is mainly a cosmetic change that doesn't require medical management. You may monitor for sneezing, bleeding, or rubbing at his nose and consider taking him to your veterinarian if he is showing any of these. Otherwise, he looks like a very cute guy. Hope this helps

Those discolorations are completely normal and, looking at the pictures and reading your description of the signs, there is nothing to be worried about. That brownish areas are likely to be due by Nikolai saliva, especially the fat content of it. This is likely completely normal. Dogs can have patches of brown skin on their pink skin, and the skin won't turn pink again. You can't do anything for it to turn pink, and it's really nothing about which to worry. I hope this helps.

This looks like hyperpigmentation. It typically occurs in lightly pigmented, sparsely haired regions as dogs get older. It can also be caused my inflammation so just make sure she is not spending too much time sunbathing and that there are no other signs like licking/scratching/lesions. This requires actually a biopsy of the tissue. I do not see an indication for a biopsy based on these pictures. This is likely just a normal change in pigmentation and monitoring would be fine. If at any point, he develops inflammation or wounds in that region have him evaluated by a veterinarian then. Best of luck!

It would be easier for us give you advice if you could post some photos. I would not say this is "normal". Some rule-outs would be: 1. vitaligo 2. lupus (DLE) 3. Mucocutaneous pyoderma (MCP) 4. Pemphigus foliaceus (PF) 5. Cutaneous reactive histiocytosis (CRH) 6. Uveodermatologic syndrome 7. neoplasia As you can see the list of differentials is very long (and that is not all of them) so I suggest you get your dog to your vet for an exam so you can discuss steps for testing. Hi there. It looks like your dog either has an abrasion or infection causing the pink area on her face. Dogs can get blocked hair follicles that create this appearance, or she may have scraped it on something. If she'll tolerate vitamin E oil rubbed on it, this can help.
