My dog has a pink lump behind his ear. Should I take him to the vet?

My dog has a lump or something I don't know. It is pink in color. Behind his ear please tell me what is it and how to treat it.

Please know that without seeing Snoopy in person, there is no way for me to say for certain what is causing his lump. It could be a cyst, an abscess, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options with you. I would take him into the vet on Monday to have this lump examined and diagnosed so it can be treated as needed. Good luck, I hope this helps!

I would recommend that you have Buddy examined by a vet. Sometimes lumps like this are benign tumors or skin tags that don't cause any issues and are often associated with aging. Others could be more aggressive skin tumors that need to be removed or biopsied. Your vet will do a physical exam to determine what, if any, thing needs to be done.

My dog has a pink, raised, round lump on his leg. What is it?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to tell exactly what this is by looking at it. This could be either a cyst or tumor. It's more likely to be a tumor, because it's not common for skin cysts to be hairless like this. However, it has features of a benign tumor like histiocytoma. It's best to have Snoopy checked-out by a vet in order to get this adequately diagnosed. The vet will be able to take a sample and identify the cause of it. It's not an emergency, but good to have a vet see it within the next week or so. I hope that helps and all is well with Snoopy.

My dog's ear has a dark bump that oozes black fluid. What is it?

This may be a cyst, or a small abscess, or an irritated tumor. Since Snoopy is an older dog, I recommend having this swelling looked at by a vet sooner rather than later, to make sure it's not a cancerous tumor. It probably is just a cyst, and nothing to worry about, but the only way to know for sure is to have your vet look at the swelling and potentially take a small sample of it with a needle to look at cells under the microscope for a diagnosis.
