My chihuahua has a pink bump on his leg. Should I worry or see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 5 lbs

His morning I noticed a (large for him but small in general) pink bump on my chihuahuas hind leg, my sister said he was scratching at it yesterday, bit it doesnt seem to hurt when i touch it, I tried to look up what it could be online, but I couldn't find anything like it! What could this be, and what should I do for it?

This could be a local site of inflammation from an insect bite or sting. This would especially make sense if it popped up within a day and was irritating/itchy to Pasta.

It could also be a small skin tumor, which would be more concerning.

I would recommend monitoring it for the about a week to see if it goes away. It the lump persists or becomes larger you should take Pasta to your vet to have it checked out.

I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
