My dog has pimple-like skin tags. What are they and how to treat?

Roxy's lesions could be papillomas, sebaceous cysts, or other benign or malignant masses. I'm glad to hear that she isn't bothered by them, but her vet should take a look at the lesions. The vet may need to perform a fine needle aspirate, which involves using needle to draw a few cells out so that they can be examined microscopically. This does not sound like an emergency, but should be addressed in the next few weeks, or sooner if they grow or change.

He had an almost identical looking cluster on his chest. During a dental I cauterized them off. They shouldn't cause Buster any harm, but I agree they do not look great :( I wish you and Buster the best!

It looks like you are concerned about several problems with Roxie, and they are probably not all related to each other. The nose could just be dry, or it could be an autoimmune disease called lupus, or it could be cancerous. I would recommend that you have your vet check this out to see what will be the best treatment. If it gets worse it could crack and bleed and be very painful. I am not sure what is coming from her whisker area, it could be a skin tag. There are several masses that can occur on the edges of the eyelid. Often they are benign, but they can get bigger and start to rub on the cornea and cause ulceration and chronic irritation. Many times a vet can remove these easily with either surgery or cryotherapy. Dry or thickened skin on the elbows is common in short-haired dogs as they age. There is nothing that needs to be done. Make sure that Roxie has a soft place to lay down, which will help prevent excess pressure over her bony areas.

While I cannot comment on the specific skin lesion Cali had without seeing it myself, yes - dogs get many of the same types of skin lesions that humans get, and are prone to developing benign skin lesions such as skin tags, warty growths, and cysts, as well as more concerning cancerous growths. Just like in human medicine, the best way to tell these apart is to have them seen by a vet, who will often get a small sample with a needle and look at the cells on a slide to evaluate the cause of the growth. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor guy! Without seeing a picture it is hard to know if it is a skin tag or not. Since he is young it could be a histiocytoma, which are pink hairless button like growths on the skin. They are benign and tend to regress in 2-3 months. Skin tag are also benign. It is likely genetics and chronic trauma/pressure that cause them to form, as most skin tags are on the underside and legs where dogs lay on. They are normal in some dogs like boxers, pit bull and pit mixes, great danes. If you want to post a picture I'd be happy to look at it. Have a great day!

Hello, these look like acrochordons plaques, possibly from microtrauma ( does Tipsy wear a harness ?), or from an irritation stemming from bacteria, yeast, or skin mites. I would recommend an examination of the skin with skin scrapes & cytology, & if nothing is found, perhaps rule out food allergy with a trial hypoallergenic diet. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed.
