My dog is peeing blood, throwing up, stomach swollen. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | 80 lbs

Hey I have pit bull terrier female, she been peeing blood for bout half day now ND he stomach swell up Abit on one side, very dehydrated drinking alot of water, throwing up ND constantly peeing, I don't have any money atm would she die from it ND what can we give her to heal her please help??

Hello, sorry to hear about Thelma. It sounds like she may have potentially a UTI or even vaginitis. Other causes of peeing blood include a tumor within her urinary tract. If indeed a UTI, this can cause quite a bit of discomfort, increased urgency to urinate, and if bleeding continues then perhaps anemia as well. I would recommend having her evaluated as soon as you are able to. There are no over the counter medications you can use to treat a UTI as these frequently need an antibiotic to treat, but you may be able to give her yunnan baiyao to help control bleeding. This is a herbal supplement that for some pets have help control bleeding, it is an over the counter supplement that does not require a prescription. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Your veterinarian would be able to start an antibiotic right away and also culture her urine to make sure that the right antibiotic is used. Good luck and have a good night!

With blood in the urine, I would certainly recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It sounds like Vivian needs to see her veterinarian. Urinating blood is never normal and could indicate a painful bladder infection or bladder stones. The snorting may not be related. Dogs can snort due to infection, allergies or something stuck in the nose. It’s impossible to say why is happening without being able to see or hear it. Sometimes people will describe a reverse sneeze like this. I recommend to watch some videos on you tube and see if that is what she is doing. Try to record to behavior so the veterinarian can see it. Have the doctor check that out as well.
Encourage her to drink plenty of water as this may help the bladder to feel better.

Why is my dog peeing blood and having seizures? Is it serious?

I'm so sorry to hear that. Bloody urine can have a number of different causes. It can be due to a problem in the urinary tract-- such as a severe urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or a bladder tumor. Those things may also cause her to urinate frequently in small amounts and/or strain to urinate (but not necessarily). It could also be a problem higher up in her urinary tract--in her ureters (tube from kidney to bladder) or in her kidneys-- again an infection, stone or tumor. The other potential cause of seeing blood in the urine is if she isn't able to form a blood clot properly. If her blood platelets or clotting factors are low or are not working correctly, bleeding can occur within the bladder (or anywhere in the body--bruising under the skin, bleeding around the gums, blood in the stool, bloody nose, blood in the eyes). We can also sometimes see the urine look bloody when its actually a different thing causing the pigment (color). For instance, if she's destroying her red blood cells and the pigment (color) from the red blood cells which is the hemoglobin is ending up in her urine. Also myoglobin (which occurs with massive muscle damage) can result in dark reddish brown urine. Some types of toxic ingestions can also result in reddish brown urine. The seizure on Sunday makes me more concerned that something very serious is going on with her. If she's unable to clot her blood properly she could have a bleed in her brain. Or the seizures may be completely unrelated to the urine. I wish I could offer you a suggestion to treat her at home, but it sounds like you need to have her seen by a veterinarian as soon as you can.

Oh my. These symptoms are alarming and very concerning. Jojo could either have a serious cystitis (inflamed bladder), raging UTI, or even a bleeding disorder is possible here. Please take her to your local vet asap for an exam, urinalysis and immediate treatment based on her lab findings. I would recommend taking her to the ER vet if at all possible, so that she can get treated quickly before this gets any worse.

Why is my dog peeing blood if her urine tests are normal?

Blood in the urine is never normal, even if it only occurs intermittently. Likewise, it’s unusual for Tilly to experience so much inconsistency in her urination habits. Some young female dogs can have recessed or hooded vulvas, which can make them more prone to developing urinary tract infections. However, since Tilly’s urine has twice not shown evidence of infection, it sounds as though it’s time to look in a different direction. I would start by asking your vet if they can take x-rays of her abdomen to check for evidence of bladder stones. The crystals associated with bladder stones often show up on a urinalysis (I’m assuming that’s what was done with her urine samples), but not always. If the X-rays are clear, your next step may be an ultrasound of her bladder with a veterinary radiologist to check for any other abnormalities. Bladder tumors can also cause similar signs, although that would be highly unlikely given how young Tilly is. I hope this helps and that you can find some answers soon!

Why is my dog throwing up blood, not eating, and can't pee?

I'm sorry to hear that Dakota is sick! Poor girl! I'm very concerned that she has vomited a blood clot and is having a hard time eating and urinating. Dakota needs to see a veterinarian right away to have these issues addressed. A blood clot in the vomit can indicate a severe GI ulcer or toxin exposure and subsequent bleeding. If she is unable to urinate she may have a severe UTI, bladder stone, or kidney infection. All of the above conditions require veterinary medical care. It is likely that Dakota may need blood work and a urinalysis to find out what the underlying cause is. She may need fluids and antibiotics in addition to other support care.
