Why is my dog peeing in bed and constantly licking a spot on her back?

Hello, Licking the vaginal area excessively could be a sign of a urinary tract infection or vaginitis. A dog urinating in their sleep could be a sign of a urinary tract infection or urinary incontinence. An infection, kidney disease, or an endocrine abnormality could change the appearance or smell of her urine. Many dogs urinate when they are excited and that part is totally normal. As I said when you posted previously, I'd be concerned Pebble has a UTI or bladder stones causing her to lick her genitals and urinate in the home. She could have pain and that is preventing her from jumping on the chair. The experts here cannot diagnose anything without seeing the animal in person, and the best thing for her is to take her into the vet in the morning. Best of luck.

This is not normal at all. She may be suffering from a urinary tract infection, and/or incontinence. She is licking herself and her bed trying to clean the urine off. I suggest you take your kitty to your veterinarian for an exam and a urinalysis. If she is suffering from a UTI she will need prescription medication.

It's possible that these could be blood spots, but you are also correct that it could be due to her constantly licking her bed. It would be a good idea to have Bella checked out by a vet to be safe. She could have a UTI and is dripping some blood and urine leading to these spots, or it may have been a small wound. I would be worried this is a UTI, and no you cannot purchase medication without seeing a vet. Coco needs antibiotics if she has one, and that is available by prescription only from a vet. I would not monitor her for a day, UTIs are painful and uncomfortable to dogs. Please take her into a vet in the morning.

I would take Coco into the vet. There could be a medical reason behind why she is urinating in the house, such as a UTI or bladder stones. She could also be suffering from something called spay incontinence. The muscles controlling the urethral sphincters can weaken in spay dogs, leading to incontinence. The good news is that all these things can be treated, but it does require a visit to the vet. Have your father call her vet in the morning to make an appointment for her. I hope this helps.

The most likely fluid in a spayed female dog would be urine. When a dog dribbles urine or leaves spots of urine on the bedding I often think about urinary tract infections. Older dogs can also develop urinary sphyncter incompetence (or a weak sphyncter), making it difficult for them to hold their bladder overnight. There are also less common causes, for instance bladder stones or endocrine diseases. Your veterinarian will likely offer to run a urinalysis, a urine culture, and maybe some bloodwork on Sassy to determine what might be causing the urine leaking. There are antibiotics we use for urinary tract infections and if it appears to be loss of bladder control there are medications to help with that as well. A visit to the vet should help you sort out the cause and hopefully get Sassy acting more like herself. I hope this was helpful!
