I recently adopted a boxer mix who had demodectic mange. He finished the antibiotic a few weeks ago, but I am now seeing red swollen paw pads and one of his paws he is favoring and limping. Any suggestions on how to help soothe the discomfort until his vet appointment on Wednesday? Any idea what it could be? I am thinking allergies or a bacterial infection?

Poor pup! It could be they are infected, he has allergies, or he has injured them. The fact that he is limping means he is in pain. I would rest him tonight, and then take him into a vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry to hear Milo's foot is botheringbim. It looks like here may be a growth or injury of some kind, and now due to that it may also have an infection. I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin issue, and get started on any treatment (anti-inflammatory, anti-itch medication, antibiotic) that may be needed to resolve it. Good luck!
