Metronidazole kills those bacteria and also seems to have a positive effect on the immune system, so it is the antibiotic of choice in parvovirus infections. We always weigh up the advantages (treating the infection) vs the disadvantages (side effects) when prescribing medications, so in this case the advantages outweigh the side effects and Metronidazole is indicated. Your puppy should aslo receive fluids and pain medication. You should also try to feed it very small amounts of wet food very often in order to keep its intestines working. It is usually best to hospitalize the puppy for a few days.

She could have a parasite and need to be dewormed. You could pick up a dewormer from your vet and also take a stool sample to be tested. You could also add a probiotic to her diet and see if that helps.

If you saw the pills/capsules come up with the vomit, I would recommend redosing immediately. If you didn't actually see the medications and it was more than an hour after administration, wait until the next scheduled time. Good luck with your pup!

Doxycycline can be given with metronidazole at the same time but it may be worth to double-check with your vet why Molly should be taking both. Most of the dogs that are recovering from parvo take an antibiotic, but administering two antibiotics at the same time is usually not necessary. Pet-Tinic contains vitamins, iron and cooper, it is safe to give it to Molly with the other medications.

The dose range of metronidazole can go up to 11mg per day, which would be 550mg at her weight. Depending on the infection, the dose rate can be even higher than 11mg. No, I would not recommend doing this. You cannot be sure that you are giving them the exact amount they need, and you could overdose them or underdose them. You will need to give them the liquid as prescribed by the vet.
