My dog has pale gums, diarrhea, and is losing weight. Is it serious?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 7 months old

With an Over-Active Immune System, would you expect the animal to be gradually loosing weight and be producing semi diarrhoea as well as pale gums and low red-blood count?

Yes, with any immune-mediated disease you can see these symptoms. They are serious symptoms so if Jess is not already under the care of a veterinarian then you need to get her care urgently. It sounds like she may have immune mediated hemolytic anemia which is life threatening but can be easily treated if caught early. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
