My dog got paint stripper on his paw. Is it dangerous for him?

The toxic effect of turpentine is very similar to petroleum hydrocarbon toxicosis. That is a severe and disease-like reaction that occurs when a dog is exposed to refined petroleum oil products, or ingests products of this type. I would recommend to take your dog to your veterinarian especially if you suspect he may have licked or ingest as well the turpentine. He will be bathed at the hospital, and possibly given topical antibiotics (and antinflammatories or pain killers) to prevent infection of the skin due to irritation. Your veterinarian will assess as well any other lesion that may be present in the oral cavity and tongue.

As long as it is a water based paint and you have washed the area of thoroughly I don't suspect that there will be any problem. Certainly you should make any attempt to prevent her from trying to lick the area in the meantime in case anything residual that could be on there. You might consider either obtaining an ecollar from a vet or pet store or watching a YouTube video on how to make a homemade one. Without seeing the ingredients on the paint I can't be one hundred percent sure that it is completely non-harmful. You could consider calling the pet poison helpline if you are becoming concerned about any possible ingestion then they will be able to go over the possible effects of the substance that is being eaten. If there was to be a problem, it would typically show up within 2-12 hours after exposure. If you see depression, weakness, incoordination, muscle tremors, salivation, vomiting, a skin rash, or collapse, get him into a vet immediately. I'd monitor him for the time period I mentioned above, but after that time period passes and if there are no signs, he should be ok. I hope this helps!

Hello, its unlikely that the paw fragrance was absorbed into his system. If it was, you should monitor for any signs of illness which may include vomiting, diarrhea, a decreased appetite, lethargy, disorientation, or seizure like activity. It is likely sufficient to since his paws thoroughly or give him a foot bath to remove any left over topical fragrance. Otherwise, you can continue to apply the new product. That is just terrible! As far as I'm aware, there is no dog poison that will soak into their feet and kill them. Washing Noir's feet is a good idea, and to be safe, I'd take her into the vet to have her checked out. Best of luck.
