Why is my dog pacing, panting, has white poop, and straining to poop?

Poor guy. He may have gotten into something that upset his stomach. The panting can be a sign of discomfort; however if it continues for more than an hour or two, then it's best to get him seen by your vet. It is good that he had a regular bowel movement this morning. If the stools go back to being watery then I would suggest taking him to your vet for a fecal examination to check for parasites and also Giardia (often causes very watery stools). A dewormer and antibiotics may be needed to get his GI tract back to normal. In the meantime you can offer him a bland diet of boiled pain chicken and rice or cottage cheese to see if you can get his stomach to settle. Also 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) can help bulk up his stools a bit. I hope that Arlo is able to make a full and speedy recovery. Best wishes and take care.

Whitish stool is an indication of a digestion problem and would not generally be related to anxiety; the head bobbing may be related to fever or nausea also. I would be concerned about the lethargy and poor appetite - try offering her warm moist food and also some pedialyte to prevent dehydration. A recheck by your vet should be considered if not improving within 18-24hours

I am sorry to hear about your pup! I would look at her rear end and check to be sure she doesn't have a matted area of hair/stool covering her anus and preventing her from pooping, as this can sometimes happen in long haired dogs. In mild cases of constipation, adding a teaspoon of canned pumpkin to their food to provide fiber can sometimes relieve constipation. If, however, she is lethargic, not eating, does not stop straining/cannot relax, or is vomiting then she needs veterinary care today. If she does have a fecal mat covering her anal area she will likely need to see the vet to have the area shaved and cleaned. All of this could be caused by her being dehydrated and still impacted with feces. Her panting is a sign of possible pain, from her impaction. Also she may not want to eat or drink because she is full of poop and/or nauseous. It is hard to say for sure without looking at her myself, but it sounds like she needs another enema, subcutaneous fluids to hydrate her, an anti-nausea medication (Cerenia) and then be placed on an easily digestible diet (i.e. Any hypoallergenic food or Iams limited ingredient, Evo brand, or Royal Canin hypoallergenic hydrolysis protein). Also your vet should rule out any type of foreign body in her intestinal tract. I hope your fur baby feels better soon.

It's possible that her poop is white because the mineral content of her diet is too high. If she's on a grain free or boutique food, or worse a home cooked diet. I'd recommend switching to a reputable brand like Hills, Purina, or Royal Canin to see if that helps at all. Hello. Roxy may be constipated, but she may also just be having some spasms in her gut. Feed her very lightly tonight, just a bit of boiled chicken & a tablespoon or two of white rice. Do not feed her after 10 pm in case your vet wants to take x-rays. An empty stomach is always best for an exam. Hopefully, your veterinarian will get things straightened out for Roxy very soon. Poor Arty! It is difficult to tell what this is! :) The white stuff makes me think it is vomit because it look like undigested food but the brown part sure look like poop. If Arty ate some poop outside, they can certainly throw it up and it look like this. Does he tend to do this? I would try feeding him some plain boiled boneless, skinless chicken and white rice to see if this settles him tummy. If he continues to have problems, I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to do a fecal and blood work on him if needed and get him start on the proper meds to help him feel better. I hope this helps!
