My Golden Doodle is out of control. Is professional training needed?

I would give it some time and training. Ziggy is a young dog and his exuberance on walks around other dogs is to be expected. It would help for you to start some "learn to earn" training. This means before Ziggy gets anything desirable (like a treat, attention for play, going outside, getting a meal) he has to sit and focus on you for a second. To facilitate this you start in the home where there are minimal distractions. Use a treat to get Ziggy to sit and look at you while saying "focus" or whatever command you want. Continue to do this before Ziggy gets anything fun or desirable. Eventually you can practice this behavior on walks so Ziggy is less triggered by other distractions. As always with training time and consistency are key. Everyone in the household should practice this with Ziggy. It may take a few months for him to get it down pat. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! A lot of this is puppy behavior and jumping is the hardest bad habit to break. It sounds like you need more professional help if you have tried training her and this is where you are at. I recommend a private trainer than can work one on one with you and Bella. A group class setting will not get you where you need to be. I applaud you for trying to fix this now at such a young age. I can't tell you the countless numbers of animals I see where the owners think this behavior is okay. Yes, the pain could be a part of it but I would expect him to be aggressive with everyone and not just other dogs. Are you doing anything to manage his hip dysplasia? I suggest you speak to your vet about that. Training with a professional, in-home dog trainer is definitely recommended. I like BarkBusters. If the spray bottle technique does not work well, then leash training him and getting him trained with obedience commands is the next step. You need to train him to sit, stay, lie down, come, etc. This will give you better control over Blaze. I typically recommend having dogs like Blaze go to an obedience training course with a trainer to establish these commands. Once he learns these commands, you can command him to stop the behavior by distracting him with these commands. I hope this helps! Hi, sorry to hear about this problem with Rosey. Young puppies can be difficult to train at first. It is important she gets enough exercise. At least 30 minutes of exercise twice a day is good. Whenever she gets mouthy, you need to put a toy in her mouth and praise her. Ignore her when she is not behaving properly. Puppies usually grow out of this with proper training. You can find a local trainer who may be able to help. Another thing is to keep her occupied at all times. Make sure she has enough toys and interaction with people during the day so she sleeps well at night. You can try a Kony toy filled with peanut butter to keep her busy when you are not around. It is important the whole family works with her and enforces good behavior and ignores bad behavior or she will get confused. Good luck, I hope this helps!
