My dog has oral cancer regrowth. What are non-chemo treatment options?

I'm sorry to hear about Stephanie's problem. To know for sure what the type of growth is and what to expect from it, a pathologist should look at a sample of the tissue from a surgical biopsy. Without this info, we are just guessing by its appearance, rate of growth and our experience. I am very concerned by the appearance of this mass and the rapid growth after it was initially removed. It is suggestive of a malignant mouth cancer. These are typically very aggressive and very difficult to treat. Your best bet is to ask your veterinarian to refer you to a veterinary oncologist. This is a specialized doctor that can give you the best treatment options. My guess is that they could combine radical surgical resection of the growth and the portion of the jaw that it is growing from. This may be preceded by or followed by radiation treatment. They can go over the prognosis and what exactly to expect, but your regular veterinarian is probably limited to the surgery that was already done. It can be repeated, but the outcome will be the same....rapid tumor re growth. Ask your veterinarian if there is a good specialist that you can see to find out all of your options and decide if treatment is feasible.

That is a tough decision to make. I think that in order to answer your question fully you should consider speaking to a veterinary oncologist. Based on the progression of the tumor currently and the kind of tumor it is. I have seen some cases where doing major surgery has resulted in longevity of the pet; however, getting informed about your specific pets tumor will help you make this decision whether to just do palliative pain management for Brandy moving forward. Based on these reports, I would recommend a referral to an oncologist to talk about treatment options for this cancerous mass. These types of tumors can be quite aggressive and may involve surgical debulking of the mass in addition to radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Poor Willis. The bloodwork abnormalities could be a reaction to all the drugs he is on. Since the western drugs don't seem to be working, you may consider going to a vet who does integrative medicine specializing in acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I will leave a link below to help you find one near you. I am sure the specialists have thought of all of this and they are giving him the best medicine but since I cannot see it myself, I will ask. Do they think they could surgically remove it and send it off for histopath or is it non-operable or are they worried that could make it worse? I hope they figure out a cure or you seek out the traditional medicine vet to see if there might be some other options especially since he may not be tolerating the current meds. Thank you for the picture of Jackpot's mouth. That is quite large and if there is slight odor, that suggests infection. This is something that definitely has to be checked out by a vet, it's abnormal looking and it appears to be uncomfortable. He could be uncomfortable without showing an obvious signs. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Frankly, I do not like that at all and recommend removing it. Anything that comes back that quickly after treatment is worrisome.
