Why is my dog not eating his food, only treats, and sleeping a lot?

I would give it a bit more time to see if he goes back to eating normally. In the meantime you may want to try giving him a probiotic just in case his stomach/intestines are bit uneasy. I recommend Fortiflora - it is by far the best probiotic. It is possible for dogs to not eat well in the heat. Same with constipation. Whether either of those are her issue, I don't know. I would STOP the coconut oil immediately. It is not really that safe as it is very high in fat. High fat can cause pancreatitis in dogs which can be life threatening. I suggest you stop the coconut oil and monitor her for a few more days. If she doesn't come right I suggest you take her back to the vet for a follow-up and some blood testing.

A few things could be going on: One, if he got into people food and it was high fat or very rich, he could be experiencing some digestive upset. Picking up his regular food and feeding a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken may help settle his stomach and get him back on schedule. Signs of GI upset also include vomiting, diarrhea, sore belly, etc. If this is the case and a bland diet doesn't help, or he has quite a few GI symptoms, seeking veterinary care is best to rule out more serious issues such as pancreatitis from eating people food. Two, if he prefers people food to his food, it could be he's trying to "hold out" in the hopes you are going to give in and give him more. If he's otherwise healthy and normal, it is best to stop offering ALL people food and treats, and only offer his dog food. Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. The approach must be logic, starting from offering different kind of food. I would change his diet to a more bland and digestible one like boiled chicken and rice. A check up is needed if inappetence lasts for more than 24hours. Based on the description that did come through your pet is exhibiting general signs of lethargy and lack of appetite which could indicate internal illness/disease. I would recommend having your older pet examined by your veterinarian and potentially bloodwork ran to get to a diagnosis here. Disease processes can be vague in symptoms initially but if caught early will give your pet the best chance at recovery and can limit the extent of treatment that is needed. Also making sure your pet is fed only dog food with no people food which can upset the pancreas and cause illness over time is recommended.

It's hard to know the cause since Bheem can't talk. It's possible he doesn't feel good. It's also possible it's related to heat or that he is bored of the food. Certainly monitor him very closely to make sure you do no see signs of illness such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy or other signs of illness. You may try feeding him a bland diet for 48 hours to see if this helps. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled plain white meat chicken and 75% plain boiled white rice. Try to make sure the house stays cool and offer him food at the cooler times of the day. It the behavior continues beyond 48 hours or if he gets worse, have him examined by his veterinarian.
