My dog won't eat after spleen surgery. Is this recovery normal?

He may still be a little nauseous from the anesthesia or medications that he received. Call your vet and give him/her an update. Your vet may want to prescribe an anti-nausea medication to see if that helps. Continue to offer him fresh water and you could also try some boiled chicken and white rice to see if he will eat that.

Poor guy. The fact that he is producing urine and pooping means that he is getting something in his system. Is he getting people food instead? If he is eating some people food, try mixing the food in with his normal kibble. Or you can try another brand of dog food that is perhaps more palatable for him. Some good dog food brands to consider are: Royal Canin, Eukanuba, or Purina One. If he still doesn't want to eat his normal food after 2-4 days or starts acting abnormal or lethargic in any way, then at that point it is best to get him checked by your vet just to make sure everything is ok. I'm sorry Chloe was so sick! When a puppy is sick from a GI problem, it can take a few days for them to recover fully from it. You can try feeding him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days to see if that helps. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he still is acting lethargic after this, then I would have him seen by a vet.

I would start trying to feed liquid foods such as royal canin gastrointestinal liquid or recovery blended with warm water then slowly introduce thicker textures until he iis eating semisolid ad solid foods again. If not taking these voluntarily I recommend an earlier recheck

This is not normal, so I would be somewhat concerned. I would be more concerned if she was also vomiting, had diarrhea, and/or a decrease in activity. Some pain medications can cause side-effects in the stomach and usually have directions not to give these when they are not eating. Make sure to double-check the medication labels for these warnings.
