My dog's nose is warm and humid, but he's fine. Should I worry?

Why is my dog's nose warm, but humid? He's behaving well, eats and he's playful.

The temperature of a dog's nose is not really a good indicator of health. If he is behaving well, eating , and playful then everything is probably fine. If you are worried that he could have a fever, then you could measure his body temperature with a rectal thermometer. The normal temperature of a dog is 100 - 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

It's doesn't really mean anything. The nose can be normally warm. The puppies entire body is going to feel warmer to us because their core body temperature is a lot higher at 100-102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. A much more accurate accessement of their core temperature is to get a rectal temp. If that is high then I would consider that pet feverish and get bloodwork and exam brought your vet right away. Hello and thank you very much for your question. Dogs noses can either be cold or warm depending on the temperature and physiological make up of the dog. But neither a cold nose or a warm nose is an indication that the dog is sick. A better indication is if they are lethargic, not eating, and have a high temperature taken by rectal thermometer.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Nose and tongue temperature is not a test for a fever. I would recommend taking his temperature rectally to check for a fever. Normal dog temperature is 100-102.5. If he has a fever, I would take him to a vet to determine why. If he doesn’t, you can offer him ice cubes or soft rubber toys for the teething. Hi. This is hard to say. But you can determine if he has a fever by checking it with a digital thermometer rectally, then discard the thermometer. Normal temp is 99-102.5. At rest. Get him checked out if he has a true fever. Good luck

My dog's temperature was high, then dropped. Does he have a fever? What should I do?

If your dog had been exercising or out in the heat it is possible his temperature could have increased due to this, but 104.1 is a pretty high temperature if you feel it was truly an accurate reading. We can see dogs temperatures get that high if they are really hot/excited/stressed and they are overweight or brachycephalic (smoosh faced) but I am concerned that his energy level was decreased. If he still doesn't seem himself tomorrow then I would bring him in for an exam. If overnight his temperature gets very high again, or he becomes weak, has trouble breathing, or his gums become pale in color or he starts having other symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea then I would consider bringing him in to the emergency vet.

My dog's nose is cold and wet, but he's acting clingy. Is he sick?

A dog's nose should be cold and wet/moist. This would be normal. The clingy behavior may not be normal and he may not be feeling well. If this continues through tomorrow, I suggest you take him to your veterinarian tomorrow for an exam. In the meantime monitor his feed and water intake and eliminiation (diarrhea or not, what color poop, consistency, etc, urination).

My dog feels warm, has a dry nose, and isn't eating. Is he sick?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Biggie! I don't personally hold much stock in nose dryness/wetness or the temperature of the nose. To know if Biggie has a fever you need to take his temperature rectally with a digital thermometer. A fever in a dog is anything over 102.5 F. There are many causes for a poor appetite: Viral infection, foreign body, fever from infection or inflammation, intestinal parasites (the eggs are microscopic and can not be seen in the stool unless adult worms are passed), pain and many many other causes. Try taking Biggie's temperature. If he has a fever I recommend making an appointment today with your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish Biggie a speedy recovery!
