Dog nose injury after boarding: Will the scar go away or leave a mark?

If the abrasion was severe enough it may cause scarring of the tissue and lead to permanent depigmentation. If the abrasion is only superficial (which it appears to be in this pic) the pigmentation will likely return.

Any products you put on it might just cause a bacterial skin infection due to the moisture, or he will likely lick it off. Just leave it alone to heal on it's own. It might take a few weeks. So happy to hear that Parker made it home safe! He appears to have an abrasion on his muzzle. He likely scraped it sniffing or rooting around. He was likely looking for food, but he could have been exploring or trying to find his way home. It should heal or look significantly better within 48hrs. If it is not looking better, Parker will need to see his veterinarian. He may need antibiotics and to ensure he has no other problems from his adventure. I hope this information helps!

While this may be caused by a bite from another dog, from my experience, this looks a little bit more like a wound from nudging something constantly with the nose. Perhaps nudging a door to a crate, or sticking his nose under a door repeatedly. I recommend keeping a close eye on the area, and maybe even getting Bear an E-collar or "cone" so that he does not cause further trauma to the area. I advise against applying antibiotic ointments such as Neosporin as Bear is likely to lick them off quickly. I hope this helps and that all is well with Bear!

This does not appear to be a bite of any form. Could be scratches. I don't see anything here that I would be overly concerned with and I don't think your vet would do anything at this stage either. If you want to try something I would recommend you use this wound spray on the nose. It won't hurt her if he licks it off but I suggest you try to minimize that because if he licks it off, it can't work. So, I suggest soaking a cotton ball with the spray and then wiping it on the nose. Dogs don't typically like being sprayed in the face; you don't want to scare him. Put it on and then distract him for a few minutes with a Kong filled with treats or something similar to get his mind off of it. It should dry rather quickly and you don't need to use a lot - just a very thin layer twice a day. It is difficult to tell from the pictures, but what you are describing on Cookie's nose can be due to a variety of reasons, including a scab, crusted nasal discharge, a cyst, a small growth, or another underlying issue.
