My dog has no vaccine papers. Can I re-vaccinate for new records?

Hi Sayra, Unless Dylan received his vaccinations at one of our VETCO clinics we cannot give you any records. The records must come from the veterinarian/veterinary clinic that administered the vaccinations. If you need proof of his vaccinations but you cannot get the records, unfortunately you will have to have him vaccinated again. If you have him vaccinated at a VETCO clinic the records will be available indefinitely so you don't have to worry about every losing them. Hope this helps. In most cases, you'll need owner permission in order for records to be transferred over, so while you can contact the vet, you may not be able to obtain full records. That said, they may at least be able to confirm neuter/vaccine status for you so you can let your vet know. If you can't get any records, you can also have your current vet perform a titer test to see where Wooly's immunity levels are, and then booster vaccines from there.

I would try to get as much information from the previous owner as possible. If they don’t have any records maybe they remember the name of the veterinarian they took him to and you can call for that information? If you can not get any vaccination documents then I would be much more inclined to vaccinate him again rather than risk no vaccinations. Hello, if you are unsure about his vaccinations, you can re-start his vaccinations. However, if you know for a fact he did receive vaccines, you may be able to booster him at 1 year of age for his core vaccines (distemper, parvo, parainfluenza, hepatitis). No, vaccinations are quite safe to give in close proximity to each other even if you are giving them early. This is done quite often on dogs that we have no vaccination history of and they need them. It would be safer to vaccinate again than to risk bot vaccinating, especially when he is so young as it is unlikely any course would be complete at this stage. The original vet should be able to confirm what if any vaccinate had been given if you can obtain contact details. As a general rule, vets would normally issue a written record when vaccinating pups so the new owner can follow on with recommended course, no book often indicates lack of complete vaccine schedule!

I assume by papers you mean his vaccine records. It’s ideal to have the vaccine records but in general it is not necessary.
