Nexgard not repelling ticks? Can I add Seresto or switch products?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You can't combine the other orals with the one you gave. Personally I would just wait the 2 weeks. You can use the Seresto collar but that lasts for 8 months so I see not point then of using a new product. All the topical medications last 1 month. It would just save you money to wait and check him over well for ticks. I like Nexgard, Bravecto or Simparica for the oral flea and tick and the Seresto collar. I wish you the best!

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Flea products should not be combined as there is an increased risk of side effects. The manufacturers state that they do not have data on using two or more flea products at the same time, hence they consider that as potentially dangerous. So, if Seresto is not working for Spike, you need to take it off and start giving Capstar (or any other new flea treatment) after 2-3 days.

I would not use these two products consecutively. Their combined used hasn't been studied much, but it is just safe to use only one flea/tick prevention in this case. Nexgard is a very effective product, so he should be fine going forward with just this one on board. I hope that things go well for your Mac going forward. Best wishes and take care. : )

Yes a Seresto collar and Nexgard can be used together, however both Nexgard and Seresto are highly effective against fleas and ticks and therefore it is not necessary to double up. You can just as effectively use either on its own.

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Yes, you can absolutely place a Seresto Collar on Nala today, if you wish. But please consider that here may be other reasons besides fleas that are causing her to itch. Dogs can suffer from many allergies, just like we can, & sometimes fall can be the worse time of year for this. You will probably need to speak with your veterinarian to see if Nala does have allergies, & not fleas, & what medications will work best for her. Take care.

It is ok to use Seresto along with other topical products, just not oral ones. In some pets there can be a little skin irritation, so watch out for that and notify your vet if this happens. Otherwise, you should be fine to go ahead with Seresto to see if this does the trick. I would also recommend using a flea fogger to treat your home, which can be found at your local Home Depot or Lowe's. If you still don't have good results with the Seresto collar, then I would wait at least 2 weeks and consider better products such as Simparica or Nexgard. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! In order to kill the ticks with Simparica, the tick has to but the dog and they will die with in a day. If you are finding engorged ticks then the product isn't working and you should stop using it. If you are finding attached dead or slowly moving neurologic ticks then they are dead or dying from the Simparica. If you feel you need the Seresto Collar I would just use that and stop the Simparica. The collar repels and the tick doesn't have to attack to be killed. But yes the 2 can be used together but I see no point if you think the Simparica isn't working, why waste your money on 2 products? Good luck!
