Why is my labradoodle's neutered scrotum white and he's licking it?

The skin looks perfectly healed. However it will take a few months before the internal stitches have dissolved. So I would still put en e-collar on Bell as long as he attempts to lick the incision.

It sounds like he could have a bacterial skin infection and may need an antibiotic. Have your vet take a look at him to determine the cause and prescribe medications to treat. He may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and/or corticosteroid to help. You could aslo bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo, like Epi-soothe, to see if that helps.

It is just red from him licking it. It looks fine. Just be sure to get the cone on him so that he cannot remove it. Typically lacing it through the collar and putting the collar on tight enough that you can only get two fingers between it and the neck will prevent them from removing it. I suggest you get this wound spray gel to put on it until healed. Poor pup! That area is very inflamed and may be infected. Keep the dogs separated and make sure your dog wears his elizabethan collar at all times. Get him seen by his veterinarian within the next 24 hours as he may need antibiotics. Make sure to keep him from any activity as well such as running or jumping. It's normal for a dog to lick the scabs. After 13 days, Milo's incision should be fully healed, and if there is a small amount of blood, I would not worry. I would start worrying if the area appears infected, in which case you would see redness, swelling, the area would be warm to the touch, and you'd see pus. If he is licking the area excessively, then I would put the cone back on and have him see the vet. I hope this helps!

Hi, to have fluid in the scrotum following neutering is very common in dogs that are neutered when a bit older. The swelling should gradually come down with antinflammatories and by preventing him to groom the area. I am not sure if your vet gave you a buster colllar to put on Pancho, but there are inflatable ones that are very well tolerated. Hope this helps !

Hello. This incision is still healing and you are seeing areas where the skin edges have not completely healed together. Even though it has been 2 weeks- this photo indicates that Tucker should still be wearing an E-collar or some other device that will prevent him from licking the area. It will heal but it will take longer and you are at risk of it getting infected or opening up more if he is continued to be allowed to lick the area.
