My dog's neuter stitches opened. Do I need to see the vet today?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 11 months old | 15.2 lbs

I woke up this morning and bear seems to have undone stitches from his neuter or it did it itself. But I wanted to know what do I do and I wanna know if it's healing properly we are, supposed to call on Tuesday to get them looked at to get them out. But I'm wondering if I should go in before

Yes, Bear needs to be examined today. If the incision opens up, that will cause delayed healing and possibly infection. Bear should also be wearing an Elizabethan collar at all times to prevent him from looking at the incision. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
