sudden trauma to nail caught when out walking. bleeding stopped quickly. still limping three days later. nothing to see. shall we keep bathing and give pain relief? thanks

Hello. I'm sorry to hear about Romeo. Nail injury is fairly common. If you can get him to a vet soon, that is ideal. He will need to be sedated and the injured nail needs to be removed so it can grow back properly.
If you are unable to get to a vet soon, you'll want to apply a loose bandage to stop the bleeding, but your vet should be seen asap.
Do not give him any medications until you see your vet because they'll need to start from square one.
