My puppy is moving to France. What vaccinations and certificates are needed?

If you are planning to export him to Europe, then you should first look up all of the requirements needed for the specific country you are going to. You can find this information at the Country's agriculture import website. When you find the information, you should read it thoroughly and get a good understanding of the requirements prior to having his next vaccine. Many times these countries require the dog be microchipped in order for the vaccine to be valid. Also, you will want to make sure you get the appropriate microchip ( Usually the ISO chip). Marlo should get his next vaccine around 10- 11 weeks. I would first make sure that you have a vet who is certified to sign health certificates. If they are not, then find one that is and make appointments with only that vet in the future. Preferably you want to see a vet that has experience in overseas exports. Hello, thank you or using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are some very specific requirements to travel overseas with a pet. This is something you need to work very closely with your veterinarian to make sure nothing is missed. This just can not be done on line by yourself. Your veterinarian will research what is necessary based on what countries you will be visiting. Please also consider the stress you will be subjecting such a young puppy to. It is a very long flight with no potty breaks, & if your pup gets sick overseas, you will be in a very difficult situation trying to find veterinary care. Perhaps you have a trusted relative or friend who can keep Luna for you while you are gone? Honestly, this will be so much better than trying to travel & find pet friendly hotels while in Europe. I would recommend taking your pup to the vet for a wellness exam and first set of vaccines - he/she can get you started on everything she needs. :) As far as getting her registered, I'm not sure what you mean? Your local city or county may require that you get a dog license for her, so you can check with your town hall or county courthouse to find out. If you're asking about kennel club registration, your breeder should have given you registration papers to fill out and send in.

That is exciting to take Nessa with you! Each country has its own requirements for entry. I would advise to go to USDA.gov and go to the exporting pets page. You will find Norway on the list. Familiarize yourself with the requirements and print them off to bring in with Nessa for her health certificate. A USDA accredited veterinarian will need to provide a health certificate and it may also need to be notarized by the state veterinarian so make sure you are doing things in the appropriate time line. Not all vets are certified, so if Nessa's doctor is not, there is also a link on the USDA website to find an accredited doctor. Additionally, the airline will have its own set of requirements and time lines. Most airlines will have their pet policies posted on the website. Also, some countries will need the doctor to sign off on parasite preventions. This will be noted in Nessa's health certificate. I hope I have pointed you in the right direction. Parker is cute! Most dogs get a vaccine core of Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella. Depending on where you live, Leptospirosis and Lyme vaccines may also be indicated as well as Heartworm prevention. I would recommend to have the records from your old vet faxed over to your new vet and to discuss what is needed based on your location. I also see that Parker is marked as unspayed. Spaying female dogs has significant health benefits as she gets older. I would also recommend to discuss this with the doctor if you are not planning on breeding Parker. Take care.
