My dog's molars didn't grow in. Is this normal or concerning?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 28 lbs

I just checked Asher’s teeth out of curiosity b/c he didn’t grow in his first two bottom molars on each side. The vet wasn’t concerned abt it because it wasn’t affecting him but I still would do routine checks. Anywho, I just checked & he has one coming in finally. It took him a year but that’s okay, lol. Did I also mention that he likes to sit & sleep in front of the heater!! I can’t bare to even stand in front of it, I’m not sure how he tolerates it. I mean it does get cold here.

He likes being warm! I wouldn't worry as long as he can walk away from the heater and cool down.
That's great news that his tooth is coming in. Be aware that the tooth may not develop normally. You will have to wait and see. It sounds like the missing tooth/abnormal tooth is not affecting his ability to eat or play but abnormal teeth may be a reason not to breed dogs (you would want to check with the breed registry). I'm not sure if that is your intention but do be aware.
Cute pups! Thank you for the photos. We always enjoy looking at them :)
