Can dogs with milk allergies have food with lactobacillus acidophilus?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 17 lbs

Giulio is finally on a new food he loves and is doing well on. He has a milk allergy and the very last ingredient of the food is lactobacillus acidophilus. Would is the an issue? Are there certain probiotics he should avoid? Or does it not matter since he is tolerating it just fine.

It's not likely to have any effect on him, milk allergy is usually due to sensitivity to lactose which is the sugar molecule in the milk, it's not related to this bacteria called lactobacillus acidophilus. there should be no issues with other probiotics either.
